Chi mi segue da qualche tempo sa che non amo particolarmente il mare come luogo fdi vacanza, ma sa anche che il mare è una delle mie principali e preferite fonti di ispirazione per i miei progetti! Eccovi la prima tag a tema marino di quest'anno, semplice e super classica ma con uno sfondo abbastanza elaborato!
Those who have been following me for some time know that I don't particularly love the sea as a vacation spot, but they also know that the sea is one of main and favorite sources of inspiration for my projects! Here is the first marine-themed tag for this year, simple and super classic but with a pretty elaborate background!
Una breve spiegazione per lo sfondo . Ho utilizzato lo stencil Splash di Tim Holtz dopo aver colorato con Distress Oxides la tag. Ho steso la Texture paste Transparen Gloss e subito doopo ho cosparso la tag( dopo aver tolto lo stencil!) con qualche glitter molto fine. Una volta asciutta la pasta diventa trasparente e il glitter da quell'idea di brillante che ha il mare quando lo si guarda in controluce. A destra ho utilizzato lo splendido ramo marino del set Sealife di Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous! Per la stella marina ho utilizzato un ritaglio di Yupo paper colorata con gli Alcohol inks.
A short explanation of how I made the background. I used Tim Holtz's Splash stencil after having colored the tag with Distress Oxides. I spread the Texture Paste Transparent Gloss and immediately after I sprinkled the tag (after removing the stencil!) with a little bit of very fine glitter. Once dry, the dough becomes transparent and the glitter gives the idea of brilliance that the sea has when you look it against the light. On the right I used the splendid marine branch of the Sealife set by Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous! For the starfish I used a scrap of Yupo paper colored with Alcohol inks.
Il cavalluccio merita un discorso a parte. E' una fustella di Tim Holtz Movers & shapers che credo non sia piu' in produzione ma a me piace così tanto che ogni tanto ve la ripropongo! L'ho tagliata su un cartoncino spesso , l'ho colorata spruzzando Rusty Hinge Distress Spray stain e poi ho creato la texture da "spalmare" sopra. Ho utilizzato un po di Ranger ultra thick Gel medium e le minuscole sfere di Prima Marketing Mini Art Stones e ho mischiato gli ingredienti.
A questo punto ho cosparso e aspettato che asciugasse. Poi ho preparato un mix di Tattered rose Distres spray stain e Distres oxide Abandoned coral ( un vero esperimento!). Ho spruzzato la mistura e una volta asciutta era un pochino troppo vivace. Per schiarire ho usato Picket fence Distress paint diluito con acqua. I rami marini dietro al cavvalluccio provengono dalla fustella di foglie natalizie di Tim Holtz, Holiday Greens mini. Lo so che è natalizia ma quel ramo è assolutamente perfetto per gli sfondi marini! La conchiglia anch'essa di Tim Holtz è colorata con i Distress ink pad tradizionali!
Il sentiment è una chipbord presa da una vecchia collezione di Graphic 45 "Beneath the sea" che vorrei tanto avere completa!
The seahorse deserves a separate discussion. It is a die by Tim Holtz that is no longer in production but I like it so much that sometimes I propose it again! I cut it on thick cardstock, I colored it by spraying Rusty Hinge Distress Stain Spray and then I created the texture to "spread" on top. I used Ranger Ultra Thick Gel medium and the tiny spheres by Prima Marketing, Mini Art Stones, and I mixed the ingredients.
At this point, I sprinkled it and waited to dry. Then I prepared a mix with Tattered rose Distress Stain Spray and Abandoned coral (a real experiment!). I sprayed the mixture and once it was dry it was a little too vivid. To lighten I used Picket fence Distress paint diluted with water. The sea branches behind the seahorse come from Tim Holtz's Holiday Greens Mini thinlits die. I'm aware it's a die for Christmas but that branch is absolutely perfect for marine backgrounds! The seashell by Tim Holtz is colored with traditional Distress ink pads!
The sentiment is a chipboard taken from an old collection by Graphic 45, "Beneath the sea", that I would love to have complete!
