SIMON MONDAY CHALLENGE RECYCLE

Ciao a tutti!

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for the Thinking Of You Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.
This week we would like you to create something previously used: Recycle
Nikki aka Addicted to Art is still with us as our Designer Spotlight, check out her fabulous Blog!

I have always loved the old wooden spool, small, medium and large, I like them all. I have someone of them lying in my waiting drawers and today it started its new life. What I used to make the base of my work is obviously the one on the left!

Measure with Sizzix Circles Framelits,  the circumference of the circles you need to cut to cover the wood. If the measurement is not perfect, don't worry, you'll take it out a little more with sandpaper. A circle must be full to cover the  base on which to rest your tree, a circle must be empty to cover the part below. Cut a strip of paper to cover the vertical part of the wood.  I colored every cut of paper with Antique linen Distress Oxide Ink pad because I did not like super white but I wanted a more vintage effect!

For the decorations, I started from the half tree by Idea-ology. To calculate the point at which to drill the base, make some tests first by placing the tree only and leaving enough space for the elf. Once drilled the wood, fill the hole with hot glue and immediately insert the tree.
Start preparing the elf by cutting the pieces with the paper or cardstock you prefer. If you look at the photos, you will see that always on the recycling theme, I used the packaging of a Tim Holtz stencil to cut two more elves. The elf is a very thin die,  if you want it to remain to stand and if you want to glue,  it needs of a remarkable thickness so cut two elves and glue them together with the decorated elf. In this way, you can be able to glue it at the base.
Cut leaves in quantity for the rest of the decoration.

Since this is a gift, I have also prepared a tag that will accompany it. I used a Kraft tag and first stamped the sentiment in the middle with Versamark and the Red Tinsel powder.
Then I masked the sentiment with a circle to stamp the rest of the tag with one of the two Plaid stamps of Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous's Perfect Plaids set. This stamp is made up of rather large solid lines and very thin empty lines. Inside the empty lines I used a Sakura Gelly Roll gold marker to create a light touch of color in the design. Mask the sentiment again and as the last layer, you stamp the snow with white ink pad and another stamp by Tim Holtz (materials at the bottom as always).
Cut the two circles that serve as the frame of the sentiment

Finito!
Dettagli

To decorate the tree I used Idea-ology Baubles and colored them with Alcohol Pearls Inks in Christmas colors. If you haven't yet, buy the Smolder color because it's fabulous, a neutral color that gives a vintage touch to anything, my favorite among Pearls Inks!
To color the Baubles without getting dirty I used a method suggested by Paula Cheney One Lucky Day HERE.
Now you just have to prepare the packages by choosing the paper with which to cut them and assemble your tree. Use the hot glue to fix some things, the elf in the back of the face that rests on the tree and in the back of the foot resting on the base to make it stay firm. Do the same with the packets and the Baubles, in the back use a small amount of hot glue! Finished!
