SIMON MONDAY CHALLENGE MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND

Ciao a tutti!La sfida che vi proponiamo oggi su Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog è MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND. Credo che e spero sarete in molti a partecipare perchè l'argomento è molto facile e adatabbile a qualsiasi tipo di stile e di progetto!

It’s Estelle’s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your creations over the past month. It has been a real pleasure to have you along with us 

Ho deciso di realizzare una card/invito per un Party Di Halloween. Ne ho approfittato per  utilizzare i nuovi set della collezione dedicata a questa festa di Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous. Sotto come sempre una breve descrizione in punti sul processo creativo. 
 
I decided to make a card / invitation for a Halloween party. I took the opportunity to use the new sets of the collection dedicated to this day by Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous. Below, as always, a short tutorial in points on the creative process.


1) Creazione del background con una tecnica che io chiamo resist reverse. Di solito si utilizza la tecnica Resist quando si vuole evidenziare alcuni parti di stencil o timbri utilizzando , gesso, polveri da embossing ecc. Qui invece ho utilizzato l'inchiostro Versamark, ma senza polvere. Timbrate con questo inchiostro, o uno qualsiasi per embossing, e poi spruzzate sul vostro cartoncino Heavystock con i Distress Spray Stain che sono molto liquidi e trasparenti ( con gli Oxide non ho ancora provato!). Il risultato è quello di avere il vostro timbro colore su colore, una sorta di timbro ghost che a me piace tantissimo e che risulta essere parte dello sfondo dalla nascita, non una sovrapposizione come capita quando timbrate con un inchiostro. 
 
 1) Creating the background with a technique I call Resist Reverse. Usually, the Resist technique is used when you want to highlight some parts of stencils or stamps using, gesso, embossing powders, etc.  Here instead I used Versamark ink, but without powder to obtain a dark image. Stamp with Versamark, or any embossing ink, and then spray on your Heavystock stock with Distress Spray Stains which are very liquid and transparent (I haven't tried Oxides yet!). The result is to have your stamp in a dark color, a sort of ghost stamp that I really like and that turns out to be part of the background from birth, not an overlay as happens when you stamp with ink.


 
2) Ho proseguito timbrando al centro una delle sue scritte dello stesso set dei fiori, Exquisite CMS 453, con inchiostri Archival.
 
 2) I continued by stamping in the center with Archival Inks one of the stamps from the same set of flowers, Exquisite CMS 453.
 

3) Ho scelto il nuovo stencil Damask nella versione mini ( set 53) e l'ho utilizzato insieme alla Distress Grit-Paste Crypt per creare una specie di motivo sulla card/invito. 
 
 3) I chose the new Damask stencil in the mini version (set 53) and used it together with the Distress Grit-Paste Crypt to create a kind of frame on the card / invitation.

 
4) Ho aggiunto qualche tocco di Distress Translucent  Crackle e una volta asciutta ho rifinito i bordi con vari Distress Crayons e Distress Oxide. Poi ho spruzzato qualche goccia di Mica Stain Decayed (set 4).
 
 4) I added a few touches of Distress Translucent Crackle and once it was dry I finished the edges with various Distress Crayons and Distress Oxides. Then I sprayed a few drops of Mica Stain Decayed (set 4). 
 

5) Ultimo passaggio per completare lo sfondo qualche timbrata della seconda scritta del set Exquisite con un inchiostro Archival viola.

5) The Last step to complete the background is some stamping of the second writing of the Exquisite set with a purple Archival ink.  

6) La parte centrale con le due maschere è veramente semplicissima. Le maschere sono state tagliate anch'esse con cartoncino Heavystock e la fustella di Tim Hotz Sizzix Masquerade. Prima di tagliarle e decorarle con la fustella da embossing 3D Damask, le ho colorate con vari Distress Stain Spray (materiali sotto al post come sempre) e evidenziati i particolari in rilievo con il nuovo Mica Stain Fortune Teller, parte del set 4. Le lettere per realizzare la scritta Halloween Party e October sono state ritagliate una per una dal Metallic Sticker Book Idea-Ology. Il numero 31 invece l'ho preso dal pack Ephemera Halloween di quest'anno. Ho tagliato a misura die cartoncini dal pack Classic Collection di Tim Holtz e ho inserito qualche filo di Mummy Cloth tra i due. Spero vi sia utile!l

6) The central part with the two masks is really very simple. The masks were also cut with Heavystock and the Tim Holtz Sizzix Masquerade die. Before cutting and decorating them with the 3D Damask embossing die, I colored them with various Distress Stain Sprays (materials at the end of the post, as always) and highlighted the embossed details with the new Mica Stain Fortune Teller, part of set 4. The letters to create the words Halloween Party and October were cut one by one from the Metallic Sticker Book Idea-Ology. Number 31 instead I got it from this year's Ephemera Halloween pack. I cut 2 cards from Tim Holtz's Classic Collection pack to size and I  inserted a few strands of Mummy Cloth between the two. I hope it will be useful to you!

SIMON MONDAY CHALLENGE MIXED MEDIA

This week we are challenging you to get your paints, inks, pastes etc out and have fun with: MIXED MEDIA

Io non ho potuto resistere all'ultima collezione di Halloween di Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous e ho realizzato una tag con uno dei nuovi set, Unraveled CMS542, che ha come protagonista questa divertente mummia. Ho pensato che l'abbinamento perfetto fosse con i dolcetti Idea-ology e quelli di Sizzix dalla nuova fustella Trick or Treat. Vi lascio come quasi sempre la descrizione in punti del processo creativo. 

I couldn't resist Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous' latest Halloween collection and made a tag with one of the new sets, Unraveled CMS542, featuring this funny mummy. I thought the perfect match was with the Idea-ology and Sizzix's new Trick or Treat Thinlits Dies. As almost always, I leave you the description in points of the creative process.


 1) Tag #8 Heavystock colorata con Distress Spray Stain e Mica stain, quelli che vedete nella foto.

2) Per completare lo sfondo ho utilizzato lo stencil Markings, nella versione mini che fa parte del set 53. Ho steso unao strato di Grit Paste Translucent e ho ricoperto di Embossing Glazes nei colori che vedete. Quando voglio ottenere un aspetto meno lucido e compatto, aspetto come sempre che la pasta sia asciutta e quando vado a scaldare lo faccio muovendo molto l'heat tool e non completando lo scioglimento. Lascio che la polvere inizi a sciogliere in modo che rimanga fissata ma non arrivo al punto in cui è tutta fusa e lucida.

 2) To complete the background I used the Markings stencil, in the mini version that is part of set 53. I spread a layer of Grit Paste Translucent and I covered it with Embossing Glazes in the colors you see. When I want to obtain with the powders a less glossy and compact appearance, I wait as always for the pasta to be dry and when I go to heat I do it by moving my heat tool a lot and not completing the melting. I let the powder begin to dissolve so it stays fixed but I don't get to the point where it's all melted and shiny.


3) Ho timbrato la mia simpatica mummia e l'ho colorata con Distress Mica Stain Wicked Elixisir. Poi con pazienza e precisione l'ho ritagliata.

 3) I stamped my cute mummy and colored it with Distress Mica Stain Wicked Elixisir. Then with patience and precision I cut it out.

 4) Ho preparato tre dolcetti con la fustella Trick or Treat mischiando i colori della tag: verde , viola e nero. Ho aggiunto qualche dolcetto Idea-ology ( insieme agli occhi sono le mie aggiunte preferite per Halloween, li metterei ovunque). Per finire il sentiment fa parte dello stesso set della mummia e l'ho timbrato con Versamark e utilizzato sopra la polvere bianca da embossing. Un piccolo pezzetto di Mummy Cloth nel foro della tag, qualche cucitura e il lavoro è finito. Come ultima cosa vorrei dirvi che per me Mixed Media non significa usare a tutti costi gesso come identificatore dello stile (cosa che vedo fare spesso!), ma mischiare vari prodotti fino a raggiungere un risultato armonico ma complesso nella sua esecuzione. Ovviamente è solo la mia opinione, ma mi faceva piacere farvi sapere i miei concetti guida quando realizzo qualcosa. 

4) I prepared three sweets with the Trick or Treat die by mixing the colors of the tag: green, purple and black. I added some Idea-ology treats (along with eyes are my favorite Halloween additions, I'd put them anywhere). Finally, the sentiment is part of the same set as the mummy and I stamped it with Versamark and  white embossing powder. A small piece of Mummy Cloth in the tag hole, some stitching and the job is done. Lastly I would like to tell you that for me Mixed Media does not mean using Gesso at all costs as an identifier of the style (which I often see done!), but mixing various products until reaching a harmonious but complex result in its execution. Obviously it's just my opinion, but I was pleased to let you know my guiding concepts when I make something.
