Non so chi tra gli amici che mi seguono abbia l'età giusta per ricordare chi è Mrs. Danvers.... Partiamo dal fatto che un cinquantina di anni fa quando avevo 6 anni , in Italia si vedeva un solo canale televisivo o due, non lo ricordo esattamente, e venivano trasmessi spessissimo film americani degli anni 40 e 50. Mia madre ha sempre amato questo genere di cinema e mi ha trasmesso la passione... credo di aver visto davvero tantissimi film di quel periodo e di tanti generi differenti. Ho sviluppato una vera adorazione per Alfred Hitchcock e i suoi film, certamente uno dei miei preferiti se non il mio preferito assoluto è Rebecca, la prima moglie , tratto da un romanzo di Daphne du Maurier che ovviamente ho anche letto! Protagonisti del film attori favolosi: Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine e .... Judith Andreson che interpreta la Sig.ra Danvers, la tetra governante di Manderley, la tenuta di proprietà del protagonista. Tutta la trama se non conoscete il romanzo potete leggerla su Internet, io vi dico solo che adoro tutto sia del film che del rom,anzo. La Sig.ra Danvers è una presenza inquietante, tetra e oscura che pervade tutto il film.... il finale è spettacolare!
Quando ho ricevuto la nuova collezione Idea-ology di Tim Holtz ho immediatamente aperto , prima di ogni altra cosa , il pacchetto di nuove Paper Dolls.... e.... la folgorazione... eccola là la mia Sig.ra Danvers, perfetta per uno spaventoso lavoro .... Halloween si avvicina!
Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you a project that has a little story behind it ...
I do not know who, among the friends who follow me, is the right age to remember Mrs. Danvers .... Let's start from the fact that fifty years ago when I was 6 years old, in Italy there was only one TV channel or two, I do not remember exactly, and very often were broadcast 40s and 50s American movies. My mother has always loved this kind of film and she transmitted me this passion. I developed a true adoration for Alfred Hitchcock and his films, certainly one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite is Rebecca, based on a novel by Daphne du Maurier (which of course I read)! The protagonists of the film are fabulous actors: Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and ... Judith Anderson who plays the gloomy Mrs. Danvers, the woman who takes care of Manderley. If you do not know the novel you can easily find the story on Internet. I only tell you that I love everything from this movie and I love in the same way the novel. Mrs. Danvers is a disturbing, obscure and manipulative presence that pervades the whole movie .... the end of this story is spectacular!
When I received the new Idea-ology collection by Tim Holtz I immediately opened, before anything else, the new package of Paper Dolls .... and .... the idea ... here is my Mrs. Danvers , perfect for a scary job .... Halloween is approaching!
Ovviamente ho adattato il personaggio alla celebrazione di Halloween e la mia Sig.ra Danvers è diventata una vera strega con tanto di calderone!
Obviously I adapted the character to the Halloween celebration and my Mrs. Danvers has become a real witch with her cauldron!
Non sono riuscita a preparavi un tutorial perchè questa settimana il mio tempo da dedicare al craft è davvero poco.... gli imprevisti sono sempre in agguato.... mio figlio diciassettene si è rotto il dito di un piede.... giusto per movimentare la settimana....
L'unica foto che ho ricordato di fare è quella relativa alla costruzione del calderone! Ho preso una zucca di quelle più grandi di Idea-ology e l'ho prima tagliata per creare la base su cui appoggiare il calderone e poi ho svuotato la parte superiore e colorata con Distress Crayon Black soot. All'interno per creare qualcosa di simile alle bolle emanate dal calderone, ho usato delle Baubles idea-ology colorate con Alcohol inks!
I was not able to prepare a tutorial because this week my time for craft is very shoort .... accidents are always lurking .... my son, seventeen year old, broke the finger of a foot .... right to enliven the week ....
The only photo that I remembered to do is that related to the construction of the cauldron! I took a pumpkin from the larger ones of Idea-ology and I cut the top to create the base on which to support the cauldron. I emptied the pumpkin and colored it with Distress Crayon Black soot. Inside to create something similar to the bubbles emanating from the cauldron, I used Idea-ology Baubles colored with Alcohol inks!

La nuova collezione idea-ology è spettacolare , credo dovrò comprarne altri pezzi perchè ho in testa parecchie ideee e non so se mi basterà il materiale....Spero vi sia piaciuto il mio progetto cinematografico!

She is amazing Barbara! You have made such a wonderful witch with all of these goodies. I agree that the box tops are perfect for a quick project and add an interesting element. The mercury glass paper is one of my favorites, The fiery color is spectacular! You have really created the perfect representation for Mrs Danvers!
Barbara this is so cool! I just love the way you used all of the elements to make Mrs.Danvers so bewitching! And i remember bits of the movie as well- I think I will goggle more about it!
