Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
This week the challenge is: SUMMER GARDEN!
Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy your garden, the weather is warm enough to sit outside and relax, invite friends over for barbecues and enjoy picnics on the grass. We can’t wait to see what creations you make for this challenge!
This week we are showcasing products from PAPER ARTSY, if you have them we would love to see them used but you don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge.
The lovely and super talented Alison Bomber aka Words And Pictures is joining us in the Designer Spotlight this month. If you haven’t seen her blog you are in for a real treat! Please pop by to say ‘Hi’ and leave her a lovely comment!
My summer garden is a rusty garden! To achieve this effect I used Paper Artsy Rusting Powder and Tim Holtz Sizzix Wildflowers Thinlits die. It was the first time I experienced Rusting powder and the result is fabulous! To frame my flowers I printed a label from Tim Holtz Label Frames set and I used a stamp from Paper Artsy Stamp HOT PICK 1501 . For the large background I used Fresco Finish paints Antarctic and Guacamole, I added a small photo from Idea-ology Photobooth and Crinkle ribbon to give a vintage feeling to my work! There's a small tutorial for you to see the use of PAPER ARTSY RUSTING POWDER!
For the background of the card I used a piece of Manila cardstock and two acrylic paints Paper Artsy Fresco Paints: Antartctic and Guacamole.
Once acrylic paints are dried I stamped with the background of Tim Holtz Lattice and sprinkled a few drops of Distress sprays stain.
As the base for my flowers I chose a stamp from the set Label frames by Tim Holtz and another stamp from Hot Pick in 1501 by Paper Artsy, I printed them on Manila. I've painted Manila cardstock with Distress stain sprays!
At the corners I added a mini stencil with Texture Paste gloss, highlighted with Distress Crayons.
To rust flowers I tried for the first time "Paper Artsy Rusting Powder". The product is fabulous : just spray water mixed with lemon or vinegar on the powder to get the rust effect!
HERE you can find the exact instructions!
This is the result I got it! I think it's very variable, it depends on many factors: the proportion water / vinegar (or lemon), time you spend and I think even the weather !! The effect is really nice and the product can be used on many materials!!!
Ora tocca a voi!
So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

Didn't know about the rusty powder--the effect is VERY realistic. Thanks for sharing this, your piece is really lovely.
Oh WOW!! The die cut flowers look AMAZING!! You got them to rust so well!!! They look brilliant!! What a great post, thanks for sharing Barbara !! ~Leandra
Your rusted wildflowers are absolutely stunning - what a fantastic idea - and I love how all the elements are floating out of the frame, determined to be free. I love that we both wanted brick walls in our gardens! A beautiful piece of artwork - I really love it.

Questo lavoro è elegantissimo, Barbara. Un' estate un po vintage anni 50. Quell effetto rugginoso è fantastico!
Love this Barbara! I love the soft greens you've paired with the natural browns. I have that rusty powder and haven't used it yet - but I certainly will after seeing your amazing effects!
