SIMON SAYS MONDAY CHALLENGE: USE PATTERNED PAPERS!

Ciao a tutti!!!!

Hi friends! This week the challenge is : USE PATTERNED PAPERS!
With all of the background stamps, stencils and paints out there patterned papers have been taking a back seat, especially in the word of mixed media, so we thought it was about time we included them in our projects!
This is the third week for Alison Bomber aka Words and Pictures as our Designer Spotlight for this month! Here  you find her wonderful blog!

Blue is definitely, next to the green, one of my favorite colors! This color  is for me synonymous of  elegance and this word perfectly matches with  Dapper Paper Stash by Tim Holtz.  I chose to cover  a Mini clipboard and I 've played with these patterned papers, Stitched Ovals  and  Dapper die !  To  make contrast with blue shade  I used Core'dinations Kraft core Metallic and Nostalgic Collection : they are perfect! Distress crayons  in various colors are so  incredible to make look older the clip at the top and I love use them in this way too!! The buttons are  absolutely  vintage, directly from my  Mom's sewing  box !

To alter the metal clip on the top I used Distress Crayons, neutral shades! They really works so well to give this aspect really vintage and worn !

I started covering Idea-ology Mini clipboard with darker paper highlighting and aging the edges with Distress ink pad Walnut stain and Distress crayon in the same color.
I prepared the focus of the project with STITCHED OVALS Thinlits Die . In these cases I use a trick: I  prepare a much larger base where I cut the central part ( Dapper die in this project). In this way  I can well determine the  center  because Oval die is open at the center! Thinlits doesn't  cut the  chipboard, but if you use the grungeboard, you can  make a cut, not perfect, but very accentuated. Then you can finish with scissors because the shape looks very good, it is only a matter of pass it with scissors.. Obviously only if your dies have a simple shape!  I love so much the faux stitching in these dies and  I highlighted them with  Distress ink pad Walnut stain. My gentleman was  cut in two colors: Card stock Core'dinations in bronze metallic color and my favorite color that black / brown Nostalgic collection.

What a clever use of a clipboard! I really like the metallic touches and how nicely they pair with the blues. I also thought it was so clever how you added the "Men's Fashion" text to the top of the clip. Always so creative!
